As she handed me my change she looked into my eyes
She said, "I think I know you” and then I realized
She was my best friend’s baby sister she used to live next door
She’s still got those pigtails but SHE AIN’T A BABY ANYMORE

I asked what she’s been doing since those days on Oakland Street
She said “I’d love to tell you later” then she gave me my receipt
“Come back… I’m off at ten” and then she walked me to the door
I said to myself as I drove off SHE AIN’T A BABY ANYMORE

This baby SHE AIN’T A BABY ANYMORE
She’s all grown up now and I’m thinkin’ WOW she ain’t the kid I once ignored
I don’t know where this will lead, but it’s something to explore
‘Cuz, this baby SHE AIN’T A BABY ANY MORE

We shared coffee at her condo and memories from the past
I sure wanted more but didn’t want to move too fast
I said “Its sure been good to see you” and started heading for the door
Then tugging at my heart she whispered “I AIN’T A BABY ANYMORE”

CHORUS

She’s really hot, pigtails or not
ALL woman to the core-----
And this baby SHE AIN'T A BABY ANYMORE
