Lori Ann Piestewa Memorial Service - May 12, 2007

I attended the 4th annual Lori Piestewa Memorial sunrise service in
Phoenix, AZ, the weekend of March 23, 2007. I spoke to the crowd
(300-400)
which included Lori's family and fellow former POWs, Jessica Lynch,
Shoshana Johnson, Patrick Miller, and Joseph Hudson. I told the story
of
gathering information prior to writing SOMETIMES HEREO DIE, and how
difficult it had been to make sure they were able to hear it. I then
introduced Danita Greene who the song, she did a beautiful job.

Later that evening Danita sang FROGS DIDN'T HAVE GUNS and they played
THIS
MAMA"S SON, for about 200 people, which included a couple dozen
families
from Arizona who had lost loved ones in the conflict.

To: Families of loved ones that have died or have been injured in the
Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts

Dear Family Member,

We are planning a special reception and candlelight vigil on March 23, 2007 at Phoenix City Hall for the families of loved ones that have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for the soldiers that have returned. Terry and Percy Piestewa and our planning committee invite you to join us for this special night of remembrance for our loved ones. Former POWs Jessica Lynch and newborn baby Dakota Ann, Shoshana Johnson, Joseph Hudson, Patrick Miller and possibly other former POWs will be present to honor our heroes. Please come and meet other family members throughout the state and share in the memories of our loved ones, and let’s welcome our soldiers back. We especially encourage our American Indian families to participate.

We will have a few speakers and songs representing American Indian Tribes, veterans, and a variety of other groups. We will allocate time in the program to give families and opportunity to speak.

The reception will take place as follows:

Friday, March 23, 2007, 6:30 to 9 P.M.
Phoenix City Hall Atrium
200 W. Washington
(parking in Phoenix City Hall Garage – enter off 4th Avenue or Jefferson)
Hors d’Oeuvres will be served

Please RSVP to Liz Gonzales at 623-334-9393 (lizzyjane323@aol.com)

Also, please bring pictures of your loved ones. If possible, can you forward an electronic image to azforpiestewa@cox.net for posting on a wall of honor at the event.

As a family member that has lost a loved one in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, Terry and Percy Piestewa and our planning committee hold you in the highest esteem and offer our deepest sympathies, as we too have suffered losses. Soldiers that have come back from the wars with physical and mental injuries - we acknowledge your pain and sacrifice, as we also have seen how that has affected our loved ones. Parents and soldiers will carry the sacrifice of freedom for the rest of their lives, and unto succeeding generations. There is no way we can adequately thank you.

You are also invited to the Sunrise Memorial Ceremony in honor of our Lori Ann Piestewa and our fallen heroes which will take place in the morning on March 23 at the Apache Ramada at the base of Piestewa Peak, Phoenix, Arizona from 6:30 a.m. to 8.

We are also planning a surprise baby shower at 11:30 a.m. the same day for Jessica Lynch’s newborn baby Dakota Ann. If you would like to attend, email or contact Liz Gonzales, 623-334-9393 (lizzyjane323@aol.com) or Carlotta Piestewa, 602 486-5466 (cpiestewa_az@yahoo.com).

In appreciation for your contributions to this great Nation,

Liz Gonzales,
Piestewa Memorial Committee

Jim Brown - December 22, 2006

I have been fortunate to meet many talented musicians during my trips to Nashville over the past few years. Jim "Moose" Brown played keyboard on my first five demos in 2003. Last year, I was lucky he was avaialble to have him playing keyboard on all of the songs of RED, WHITE & YOU.

He is currently touring with and playing keyboard for BOB SEGER as a member of Bob's Silver Bullit Band. Not only is Jim Brown a talented musician, but he is also a songwriter and won a grammy for co-writing the Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett hit, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."

I'm hoping I get to see Jim while he's here in Detroit, but the Seger tickets are nealy impossible at this stage.

The songs of RED, WHITE & YOU are now available at the following online stores. Purchase and download single songs OR the entire cd. More sites will be added. If you don't see your favorite, please check back. THANK YOU! doug - December 9, 2006
